What are some natural ways to ward off infections, including those caused by the H1N1 swine flu virus? There are treatment options offered by homeopathic system of medicine, some of which are described below.

Homeopathic Remedies for Swine Flu Symptoms

Homeopathy is a system of natural medicine that treats the body as a whole and uses the philosophy of "like treats like." It was invented by Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician.

While homeopathic remedies should be used under the guidance of a licensed homeopathic practitioner, Dr.Kathi Fry, a Phoenix based OBGYN and homeopathic practitioner, recommends the use of the following remedies in case of flu like symptoms. Failure to bring the symptoms under control with four or five doses of any remedy requires the intervention of a homeopathic professional.

For flu symptoms such as high fever, Dr.Fry recommends Belladonna 30 as the first remedy. Start by using the medicine every 1-2 hours and then when the symptoms subside, the dosage can be decreased to every four hours.

For symptoms of swine flu such as nausea, vomiting and feeling cold, Arsenicum album 30c can be used. An initial dose of one pellet under the tongue can be used every 1-2 hours until symptoms subside. Once the sick person starts feeling better, decrease the dose to 3-4 times a day for a few days, then twice a day for a few days and then once a day for a few days, until all symptoms are gone.

For a homeopathic remedy for swine flu vaccine side effects (including body pain and fever after taking the swine flu vaccine), Dr.Fry also recommends the use of 30c of homeopathic remedy Thujja every 2-3 hours.

Colostrum - A Natural Immune System Boost Against Swine Flu

Colostrum is the liquid that precedes breast milk in mammals. It is highly rich in immunoglobulins and proteins that stimulate the cytokine system of one's body. According to Dr.Fry, colostrum (trade name: Immulox) can be consumed in powder or spray form to prevent and treat diseases such as the swine flu.

Dr.Oz says Vitamin D Supplements Help Fight Swine Flu

Dr.Mehmet Oz, a cardiac surgeon, author and talk show host, recommends the use of vitamin D supplements to help prevent swine flu. According to Dr.Oz, people who take vitamin D supplements are less likely to get the seasonal flu and it could help prevent swine flu as well. More flu outbreaks occur in places where the solar radiation is low.

There are many natural and doctor-recommended remedies for swine flu symptoms for people who wish to avoid the pharmaceutical line of treatment. Natural remedies do not always equate safe or effective treatment. Consumers should do their research to choose natural treatment options from reputable sources and those recommended by qualified medical practitioners.
